I have been editing the sound clip for the beginning of the nursing studio podcast all night. I’ve got the sound of the defib charging (Took my iPod and iTalk to work and recorded the test shock around 3 am with everyone sleeping), but the “thump” sound of the shock didn’t record, it’s fairly soft and from another part of the machine and I didn’t realize that sound didn’t capture. So I had to scour the net to find something that sounded like the shock itself. Then I had to find the EKG beeping for after the shock. I also have in the clip the sound of the EKG tape running. Then I had to yell “CLEAR” into the mic and record that. Then I had to take all of the pieces and import them into Audacity and make sure they all fit at exactly the right spot. I’ll probably be using this for quite a while. It turned out pretty good for a first attempt at some serious sound editing. I’ve done little grooming of items on Reading Bible Podcast and Reading Hamlet Podcast, but really just minor things.
I wonder about people who do radio full time. I couldn’t do it.
