5 – Katy Perry – One Of The Boys

Katy Perry seemed to come from nowhere to take the radio by storm with “I Kissed A Girl”. Heavy rotation on MTV, a slew of adverts and soundtrack placements as well as tabloid baiting lyrics made the track inescapable, and drew a huge a mount of attention to her solo debut. She had previously made waves with the ‘Ur So Gay’ EP, touted by Madonna as her favorite track at the start of the year,

Katy Perry was the only one I heard of on Last.fm ‘s Top New Artists of the year and that was largely due to Quu’s random LJ posts.  I will admit that I found ‘Ur So Gay’ absolutely hilarious.
