Ferdinand 2 Erzherzog von Österreich-Tirol Archduke of Austria was born in Linz, Upper Austria, Austria on 14 June 1529. He was the third child of Ferdinand I/1 Habsburg Holy Roman Emperor 10 March 1503 and Anne Jagiellon Queen of Bohemia and Hungary, Princess 23 July 1503. He had two brothers (Maximilian II/2 of Habsburg Holy Roman Emperor 31 July 1527, Karl II/2 Archduke of Austria 3 June 1540) and two sisters (Anna von Österreich 7 July 1528, Joanna Habsburg Archiduqueza de Austria 24 January 1547).
When he was 17 years old, his mother Anne Jagiellon Queen of Bohemia and Hungary, Princess died (27 January 1547). When he was 35 years old, his father Ferdinand I/1 Habsburg Holy Roman Emperor died (25 July 1564).
He married Philippine Welser 1527 in Jan 1557. On 4 May 1582, he married Anna Catarina Gonzaga 16 November 1566 in Innsbruck, Politischer Bezirk Innsbruck, Tyrol, Austria. He was 27 years old when he married Philippine Welser, who was 29 years old at that time. He was 52 years old when he married Anna Catarina Gonzaga, who was 15 years old at that time. He had one daughter with Anna Catarina Gonzaga: Anna Eleonore von Habsburg of Tyrol, Queen 4 October 1585.
