Just out of curiosity I wanted to see how the list of World of Warcraft expansions compared to this expansion. The first 2 segments on the list, the Draenor Set & the Northrend Set, seemed fairly close to the released product. With this expansion things change. This is what is supposed to be the Maelstrom Set.

To start off with there are not any 0 to 10 zones listed. But we do see 2 of the zones listed for the Malestrom Set, Gilneas & Kezan as starting zones for Worgen & Goblin. You also see Gilneas as a PvP area.
Mt. Hyjal is not listed as a zone, but the second section of the Plane Set includes The Firelands (elemental fire plane) which is accessed through points in Mt. Hyajl. There is going to be a raid located in the Firelands in 4.2 patch or later.
Vashj’ir is another area that isn’t listed, but it contains The Abyssal Maw which is the elemental plane of water. Again it is listed as part of the Plane Set. The dungeon The Throne of the Tides is in the Abyssal Maw & another unreleased dungeon is rumored to be located there as well.
Uldum was not listed as a zone, but it had been refered to in lore. Plus you can access the Skywall (elemental plane of air) from there. Vortex Pinacle & The Throne of Four Winds are in Skywall which are accessed by flying in Uldum.
Twilight Highlands isn’t mentioned either, but Grim Batol is listed as a zone for this expansion. I like to think that they just redefined the name with the zone becoming the Twilight Highlands & Grim Batol remaining the city which you can access as a dungeon.
The Malestrom is listed as the final zone in the Malestrom expansion. We see it for all of about a minute on our way to Deepholm. Deepholm (elemental earth plane) is a questing zone & was listed as part of the Plane Set.
Zandalar is listed for the Malestrom Set, but while we won’t see the island we will see more from the tribe in the 4.1 patch. I got revered with the tribe prior to the closing of Zul’Grub & I’m hoping there will be a way to earn rep with this tribe when they return even if we are working on opposite agendas.
I think I would like to see Plunder Isle which is home to the HQ of the Bloodsail Buccaneers (I still need to work on that rep).
One thing I notice on the Plane Set was Pandaria & Wolfenhold. Research on this shows Pandaria as the home of the Pandarian race & Wolfenhold as the home of the Worgen. This was the original Worgen not the cursed Gilnean Worgen. I would have predicted Panderan as Alliance & Worgen as Horde. Now I think it would be unlikely for Horde to also get Worgen if Alliance already has it. I’d also like to see Pandaria as a neutral race. I’d adore to see them in game as neutral quest givers/faction to earn rep with.
I’d hazard a guess that the next expansion will be the Emerald Dream portion of the Plane Set. While I’d love to island hop in the South Seas to Tel Abim, Plunder Isle, & The Broken Isle. I don’t think this is enough on which to base an expansion. I’m unsure whether the Emerald Dream should carry us to 90 or to 95. We’ll have to wait until Blizzard announces it to know for sure.
Well of course it’s spot on for the first 2 expansions considering it was written in September 2007…
